"A lo largo de dos años de trabajo, el equipo artístico liderado por el curador jefe Raphael Fonseca, además de los curadores adjuntos Tiago Sant’Ana y Yina Jiménez Suriel, y la curadora asistente Fernanda Medeiros, diseñaron un programa de exposiciones y actividades que presentan en la ciudad de Porto Alegre una gran diversidad de obras, intereses y visiones del mundo sugeridas por los artistas reunidos. Se trata de proyectos artísticos que reflejan sus contextos geográficos y culturales en un campo que abarca desde el interés por la abstracción hasta proyectos más documentales. Es este zigzag de diferentes investigaciones artísticas lo que interesa a esta edición de la Bienal.

La 14ª Bienal del Mercosur tiene como objetivo llegar a un público más amplio y diverso, insistiendo en mediar el arte a audiencias locales y globales. Este hecho también se evidencia en la lista de artistas, que cuenta con una considerable presencia de representantes de América Latina y Asia. De los 76 artistas de la exposición, alrededor del 65% son artistas internacionales y la mayor parte de las obras son comisionadas por la Bienal. Además de estar presente en instituciones que tienen una relación histórica con la Bienal como lo son: Farol Santander, el Museu de Arte do Rio Grande do Sul (MARGS) y la Usina do Gasômetro, esta edición se caracteriza por estar presente en otras zonas de la ciudad como los barrios de Lomba do Pinheiro y Restinga, en unidades de la Estação Cidadania, además de estar, por primera vez, en la Cinemateca Capitólio, en el Pop Center, en el Museu do Hip Hop y en la Fundação Vera Chaves Barcellos, en Viamão. Se cree que, de esta manera, el evento se expandirá y formará un nuevo público en la región de la Gran Porto Alegre."

"Over the course of two years of work, the artistic team led by chief curator Raphael Fonseca—along with associate curators Tiago Sant’Ana and Yina Jiménez Suriel, and assistant curator Fernanda Medeiros—designed a program of exhibitions and activities that present, in the city of Porto Alegre, a wide diversity of works, interests, and worldviews suggested by the participating artists. These are artistic projects that reflect their geographical and cultural contexts across a spectrum ranging from an interest in abstraction to more documentary-based projects. It is this zigzag of diverse artistic explorations that is the focus of this edition of the Biennial.

The 14th Mercosur Biennial aims to reach a broader and more diverse audience, with a focus on bringing art to local and global audiences. This is also evident in the list of artists, which features a significant number of representatives from Latin America and Asia. Of the 76 artists in the exhibition, about 65% are international artists, and most of the works were commissioned by the Biennial.
